SAF is a drop-in alternative to conventional Jet A-1 produced from non-fossil feedstocks such as waste fats, agricultural residues, municipal solid waste, or captured CO₂. SAF meets ASTM D7566 specification and reduces lifecycle CO₂ emissions by 40–80% compared to conventional jet fuel. It is fully compatible with existing aircraft engines and airport infrastructure without modification.
SAF reduces lifecycle CO₂ emissions by 40% to 80% compared to conventional Jet A-1, depending on the production pathway and feedstock. HEFA-SPK from waste cooking oil (UCO) typically achieves 70–80% reduction. Fischer-Tropsch SAF from biomass can reach 60–80% reduction. The lifecycle calculation (LCA) covers feedstock collection, production, transport, and combustion.
Yes. SAF certified under ASTM D7566 is fully drop-in compatible with all commercial jet aircraft engines and existing airport fuel infrastructure. No aircraft modifications are required. SAF is typically delivered as a blend of up to 50% SAF + 50% conventional Jet A-1 (the blend then meets ASTM D1655 as ‘Jet A-1’). Pure 100% SAF (neat) certification is under development.
CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) is ICAO’s global carbon offsetting program. SAF qualifies as a CORSIA Eligible Fuel when it meets sustainability criteria under an approved certification scheme (e.g., ISCC, RSB). Airlines using CORSIA-eligible SAF can claim emissions reductions in their CORSIA compliance calculations, potentially reducing their offsetting obligations.
SUAT Fuels offers SAF from multiple approved ASTM D7566 pathways including HEFA-SPK (from waste fats and oils), AtJ-SPK (alcohol-to-jet), and FT-SPK (Fischer-Tropsch). We provide blended Jet A-1/SAF from 5% to 50% SAF concentration, with full sustainability certification documentation (CoC chain-of-custody, ISCC certificates) and carbon accounting reports.
ReFuelEU Aviation is EU Regulation 2023/2405, which mandates that fuel suppliers at EU airports blend a minimum percentage of SAF into jet fuel: 2% from 2025, 6% from 2030, 20% from 2035, rising to 70% by 2050. Airlines operating at EU airports must purchase fuel from compliant suppliers. SUAT Fuels provides fully ReFuelEU-compliant SAF blends with all required Proof of Sustainability (PoS) documentation for EU ETS and CORSIA reporting.
